Steven Garcia joined the Pomerantz Research Group in early 2015 as a medical student researcher. He is currently undertaking a year-long research fellowship supported by the NIH PROF-PATH program at UCSF. Steven's current focus is on muscle stem cells and the factors that influence their role in muscle regeneration. Prior to arriving at UCSF for medical school, he obtained his M.S. and B.S. from the University of California, Riverside in bioengineering. There he was involved in projects developing viral-templated semiconductor nanomaterials under the mentorship of Dr. Elaine Haberer.
