Stanley Tamaki has worked 20 year on human tissue specific stem cells, including, hematopoietic stem cells, neural stem cells, liver engrafting cells, pancreatic islet cells and currently skeletal muscle satellite cells. His expertise, is developing processes for the isolation and identification of cell surface markers for the prospective purification of various tissue stem cells. He has developed several murine disease models that have been used to demonstrate the successful engraftment and in vivo efficacy of the various purified human stem cells. He has also developed a panel of human specific antibodies, now commercially available, used to detect donor cell engraftment
